Chakme Rinpoche’s Sukhavati Aspiration Prayer
In accordance with the wishes of His Eminence Garchen Rinpoche, Drikung Seattle Dharma Center will recite the Chakme Rinpoche’s Sukhavati on Friday evening at 7:00. Those who are interested, please be sure to join us.
Rinpoche has said that in Chagme Rinpoche’s Sukhavati Aspiration Prayer, all the causes and conditions for taking rebirth in Sukhavati are complete with nothing lacking. One visualizes clearly the field of accumulation, gathers the accumulations as the cause, generates bodhicitta as the suppporting condition, and dedicates the roots of virtue for the benefit of others.
If one is able to take up this extraordinary aspiration prayer as a continuous practice, there is great benefit. It is easy to understand, the blessings are vast, and moreover, one can clearly understand what virtuous actions to adopt and what non-virtuous actions to abandon.
The Buddha has said, in many sutras and tantras, that if one brings Buddha Amitabha to mind and supplicates him one-pointedly, one will be reborn in Sukhavati. Therefore, it is of great importance that all of us sangha members take seriously the aspiration and enlightened intention of Buddha Amitabha, and supplicate him one-pointedly with our faith and devotion.
Why is this? Because even if one has not accomplished many dharma practices in this life, at the time of death, if one brings Buddha Amitabha vividly to mind, visualizing him clearly as the deity, and supplicates him one-pointedly, it is taught that one will take rebirth in Sukhavati.
